Many customers who are not engaged in mechanical processing and finished product production want to know how the surface color of the shelves is processed?
Is it spray painting? Is it electroplating? Or baking paint? In fact, the main surface treatment method for our shelf products is epoxy resin powder electrostatic spraying. Below, we will elaborate on each surface treatment step by step.
Requirements for powder electrostatic spraying
1. Spray coating process
The surface of the structural components of the shelves should be coated with powder electrostatic spraying technology. When using other coating processes, the structural components of the shelves should comply with the provisions of JB/T 5000.12.
2 Spray materials
Thermosetting powder coatings should meet the requirements of HG/T 2006, where hardness, adhesion, impact resistance, bending test, as well as alkali and acid resistance should be tested under the temperature conditions specified in GB/T 9278.
3 Spraying environment requirements
The ambient temperature and relative humidity during painting should meet the requirements of the paint product manual; When there are no requirements in the product manual, the indoor temperature should be between 538 ° C and the relative humidity should not exceed 85%. When there is condensation on the surface of the component, it should not be painted.
4. Pre spraying treatment
① Before powder electrostatic spraying, impurities such as oil, rust, and dust should be removed from the surface, and there should be no residual pre-treatment solution (or cleaning solution) or other impurities that affect the quality of the coating.
② The quality inspection of the workpiece before and after phosphating should be carried out in accordance with the provisions of GB/T 6807, including inspection of the appearance, weight, corrosion resistance, and coating corrosion resistance of the phosphating film.
③ After surface treatment, the powder spraying operation should be completed within 24 hours.
5 Spray requirements
① The coating color should meet the color requirements of the sample or color board confirmed by the customer or the requirements of the order. The color of the coating should be visually compared with the color of the color card at a distance of 0.5 meters under natural light, and there should be no significant color difference.
② The average thickness of the coating should not be less than 60 μ m, and the thinner part should not be less than 40 μ m.
③ The hardness of the coating should not be lower than the hardness level H for pencils in GB/T 6739.
④ The resistance of the coating to detachment from the substrate should reach level 0 as specified in the test result grading table of GB/T 9286-1998.
⑤ The moisture and heat resistance of the coating should reach level 1 specified in the comprehensive damage level table of GB/T 1740-2007.
6. Quality assessment of sprayed surfaces
① The coating of shelf components shall be deemed qualified if one of the following conditions occurs:
a) Mild orange peel;
b) Obvious pinholes and shrinkage holes;
c) An inconspicuous color difference.
② The coating of shelf components shall be deemed unqualified if one of the following conditions occurs:
a) Severe orange peel;
b) Obvious pinholes and shrinkage holes;
c) Severe color difference;
d) Exposed or scratched important surfaces;
e) Bubbles;
f) Local detachment.

Coating detection for powder electrostatic spraying
1. Environmental requirements for coating testing
The testing of electrostatic spray coating should be carried out under the temperature conditions specified in GB/T 9278, including coating hardness, adhesion, impact resistance, bending test, as well as alkali resistance, acid resistance, etc.
Testing of pre-treatment before spraying
Before electrostatic powder spraying construction, it is necessary to visually inspect whether it meets the requirements. At the same time, samples of 100 mm * 100 mm or more of the same quality should be produced at the same time for inspection of the appearance, weight, corrosion resistance, and coating corrosion resistance of the phosphating film.
3 Coating appearance inspection
Take homogeneous samples to visually inspect the appearance of the coating. The surface of the coating should be flat and smooth, and the color of the coating should be basically consistent with the selected sample or color palette. The judgment and description of coating surface quality should meet the requirements.
4. Coating thickness testing
Take homogeneous samples according to GB/T 13452 Conduct testing according to the regulations of 2. The coating thickness should meet the requirements.
5 Coating hardness testing
Take homogeneous samples for testing according to the provisions of GB/T 6739, and the coating hardness should not be lower than the hardness requirement of pencil hardness level H.
6. Coating detachment from main material resistance testing
Take homogeneous samples for testing according to the provisions of GB/T 9286-1998. The resistance of the coating to detachment from the main material should reach the zero level specified in the inspection result grading table.
7. Moisture and heat resistance testing of coatings
Take homogeneous samples for testing according to the provisions of GB/T 1740-2007, and the moisture and heat resistance of the coating should reach level 1 specified in the comprehensive damage level table,
Coating testing using other coating processes
When shelf components are coated with other coating processes, the testing should comply with JB/T 5000 12.
